Life

Well its been a while since I've posted anything. I'm working at Starbucks again. I'm also tutoring 4 kids in Escondido. And working for the City of Vista a few days a week. And still plugging along with my masters. I finished up the fall semester with 2 Bs and 1 C! I'm excited about that!!! Getting ready for the holidays. Which is a little sad because Mom and Dad are going to Jamaica on Xmas and Shanthi leaves the 27th. Soooo I guess I'll have to find a family to hang out with! Well gotta get back to baking bread. Will post pictures as well!

Grad School

So I just finished up my 1st 2 classes of grad school!!! I got an A and B!!! I was not sure that I could do it, but I did.... My professors both asked if they could use my papers for next semester!!! Things are looking up!!!

No J-O-B!

So I lost my job last week, a week ago today. Its been hard to just not have to get up and go to work everyday. Its weird to just stay home everyday.... Well at least for now I don't like it. But I think there are reasons for me not having that job anymore. The school was ran by the teachings of L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Church of Scientology. Anyways things were a little kooky and I had a headache everyday. So maybe there is a reason. Anyways... I guess something new will come up, at least I hope so!!!

The weekend

This weekend was great!!! Preethi and Nelson got married!!! Shanthi, Tasha and I drove up in one car. Roberson's in one car and Rohini, Rukshan and A. Aruni in another. We left California Wednesday night and drove up to Mesquite, NV, where we stayed at a decent hotel. We left in the morning and drove all the way through. We made a small detour to see Heidi Shay in Salt Lake. We got to Boise around 9pm and the sun was still shinning!!! Shanthi barely stopped the car before jumoing out to see Preethi. Us girls, Teresa came in late Thursday, stayed at Nelson's house and were up til 4am!!! We laughed and giggled like the good ol' days. Friday morning Preethi and Nelson got married at the court house, I guess that you have to do that in Idaho. After the ceremony we went to IHop for breakfast. Then us girls took off to get our nails done and just get Preethi out for a little while. After that was rehearsal out at the Parma convention grounds. It was really pretty. The rehearsal was fun, I think Shanthi and I got Nelson upset because we were goofing off so much. Welcome to the family!!! :) The next morning we got up early to finish off some last minute details. Hair took a while and make up did too, but let me tell you it was worth it all when you saw Preethi with her sari on. She looked AMAZING!!!! Before she walked down the isle Dad said a quick prayer, which was VERY VERY touching. Our dad has a way with words I tell ya!! Well we sang a hymn, "Homes of Zion", with Nelson's family. It was really pretty. As they walked back down the isle as husband and wife, Teresa and Justin, Shanthi and Sean, Cody and I followed them out. Man my cooked up a STORM. With the help of some friends, Carl and Sonia. It was GREAT. Rosy made some AMAZING chocolate cupcakes from scratch and some fun-fetti ones for Nelson. It was a great time. Sunday morning Shanthi, Tasha and I drove home, all 14 hours!!! It was great getting home in one day. Maybe next time we will do that!! :) Hope you enjoy the pictures!!!

Summer so far

So things have gone by so fast this summer. Next week my little sister will be getting hitched!! Its so exciting.... Anyways.... I thought I'd put up some pictures of this summer so far.

Gregor Wedding

So we went to Ian and Tara's wedding back in the middle of June.... Danny was a VERY handsome groomsman.... Not biased at all!!! I got to meet a lot of people that I have heard so many stories about....

Survived

So I survivied my first week of teaching 2nd grade. The kids were a handful to start with but we really got along at the end. I have some kids who cry because they don't get their way and others who are so hard headed its like dealing with stubborn customers at Bux.... but its a great learning experiance.... good news came in this week.... I GOT INTO GRAD SCHOOL!!! So not only will I be teaching, and hopefully working at Starbucks, but I will also be trying VERY hard to maintain a 3.0 GPA for grad school.... I can't wait.... Well all for now.....

1st day of being a REAL teacher

Today was the 1st day of summer camp.... We had a rough start.... but we had a great day.... I have 8 boys and 5 girls in my second grade class.... Some are a hand full and a half, but we will make it through.... I got told I was beautiful and that MADE my day.... Anyways.... I have made it to the Tomlins, no flat tire was going to hold me back!!! (thanks Dave for fixing that and Daddy for paying for new tires!!!) Field trip on Wednesday to Petco Park for a tour of the park.... should be interesting.... more stories to come!!!

Michael Aaron Lundin

Its already been one year since Mikey's passing.... Its been hard to think such an innocent life has been taken away from us.... He was such a good kid.... I remember when we were little we had a tea party at our house and Willie, Mikey, Preethi and I sat on a blanket eating cookies and drinking water out of tea cups.... Man did we have good times together when we were kids.... Then we all had to grow up.... Mike became the big little brother that we never had.... I will forever miss you Mikey and your great big hugs and your off beat humor.....

Yummy Dip

So I made this dip tonight for dinner and people like it so I thought I'd share it with who ever might want it!!!
3/4 cup brown sugar
8 oz. cream cheese
1 teaspoon vanilla
WHIP GOOD!!! And enjoy with any fruit.... Its great!!!

May

Well Bri and I went to a Padre game.... Thanks Mo!!! We had a great time.... We almost got PEGGED by the ball... A foul ball came our way and we didn't' see it coming.... people around us were diving for the ball and they almost knocked us out of our seats.... It was crazy.... Well we had a great convention season as well... Many young kids in my meetings professed.... I know have a greater responsibility to be in my place each and every day....

April

So April was my big 25th!!! Mom and Dad had a great Sri Lankan dinner for me!! It was great... My wonderful 'niece and nephew' Sierra and Matthew were there to help me celebrate it along with their mommy and daddy Rosy and Mo.... Oh and Shanthi was there too.... She made me a great beach pail!!!! Mom made me a $100 bill.... The following Sunday we started gospel meetings so I had another party at Dave and Lorinda Petri's with even more people!!! I made spaghetti!! It was a great time....

March

So we started March off with a trip to Arizona to celebrate our 6 year anniversary.... We might not be married but we feel like an old married couple... We went to Spring Training... I know not what a normal couple would do, but thats what happens when both of us LOVE baseball.... We started off at Tempe Stadium, Home of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.... The next day we went to Peoria for the Angels vs Seattle game.... The last game we went to was Indians vs Brewers.... We also went to the Capital and walked around.... Danny loved the "oldness" of the buildings... It was a lot of fun.... We also celebrated Mom's 50th birthday!!! She had a great time, I hope, seeing how she got 3 parties this year (Australia, Tea Party and the Bash).... We had a great time :)

February

In February Danny played in a rugby tournament.... Being his BIGGEST fan I had to go and support him.... It was COLD, WINDY and at times miserable, but for him I would do anything.... Someone please tell him that so he knows :D Anyways his game got delayed like 3 times and they actually ended up playing in a down pour!!!

January

So I thought I'd fill you in on how my year has gone so far.... I went to Memphis, TN for a job interview (which I didn't get).... Sherry and Colleen Harbur picked me up from the airport... We had never met before (funny how that always works out for the friends).... but we had a great weekend.... Colleen and I went to a museum and had a great time.... Sadly I didn't get the job but ENJOYED my time with them playing cards, singing and just lounging around!!!

Just getting started

So I'm living at the Petri's right now and since Lorinda has a blog I thought I'd give it a shot.... Don't know how well it will go, but we will see.... So I starting a new chapter in life... I have gotten my 1st real teaching job!!! I am so excited... So in a few weeks I will be vacating the Petri's living room and moving into the Tomlin's spare bedroom... Hopefully things will become normal sometime soon... Whatever normal might be....
